Tracking

Survey shots must always be supervised-tracked, since the images generally jump around quite a lot. You will place each tracker in the right location on each relevant frame. SynthEyes provides the workflow to do that efficiently.

To set up for tracking a survey shot:

- Go to the Track room

- Turn on Track/Lock z-drop on

- Turn on Track/Hand-held: Sticky

- Do not turn on the Create tool on the Tracker panel!

You will add trackers one at a time, locating that tracker on each frame in the survey before going on to the next tracker.

For each image feature to be tracked:

- Go to a frame that contains it

- Hold down the C key and click and drag in the camera view to position the tracker

- Use the 's', 'd', ',', or '.' keys to move to another frame containing that image feature

- Click and drag again in the camera view to position the tracker

- Repeat for each frame containing the feature (tracker) being created

- To remove the tracker from a specific frame, click (off) the Enable stoplight on the tracker control panel

Notice that you do not have to add frames in any particular order, and you do not have to toggle the enable track on and off repeatedly. Each time you place the tracker, it is enabled for that frame only. Similarly, turning the tracker enable off affects only that particular frame. This behavior is specific to Survey shots, because the frames are largely unordered.

Important : Once you have added trackers, any additional images must be added at the end of the shot.
