MetaObject Hierarchy

Consider a box and a cylinder. We might refer to all boxes or all cylinders, or box 2 and cylinder 3; we might make the red box catch shadows and delete the blue cylinder . Both boxes and cylinders are metaobjects.

At the same time, we might want all meshes or make all selected meshes shown except in the camera view . So meshes are metaobjects too, boxes and cylinders are meshes along with other mesh types. All boxes are meshes but not vice versa, and some meshes may not be any other kind of mesh.

We might even want to talk about cubes, which are boxes which are meshes.

This is what metaobject hierarchy is about, and Synthia knows about it.

Exercise: anything in Synthia about cubes?

Exercise: what kinds of meshes are there?

While this is not a frequent cause of concern for meshes, it applies to cameras all the time. In SynthEyes and thus Synthia, both camera and moving objects are objects. It is objects that have trackers attached to them, a solving mode, and most solving-related parameters. That may creep into some of your discussions with Synthia.
