Viewports

The main display area can show a single viewport, such as a Top or Camera View, or several independent viewports simultaneously as part of a layout, such as Quad. Viewports grab keyboard and mouse focus immediately when the mouse enters the field (except if you are entering text, see below), so you can move the mouse into a view and start clicking or mouse-wheel-zooming or using accelerator keys immediately.

Many viewports use the middle-mouse button for panning, and the scroll wheel or right-mouse-drag to zoom. A 3-button+scroll mouse is highly recommended for effective SynthEyes use, as trackpads are not designed for this! For short-term use without a middle-mouse button, ie with a trackpad, see the section on Middle Mouse Button Problems. Note that the ESCape key can be used to terminate mouse operations in lieu of right-click.

Tip : You can reverse the effect of the mouse wheel with the Reverse Mouse Wheel preference in the User Interface section. This is especially relevant on macOS, where you may want to use it to obtain the standard SynthEyes push-in/pull-back behavior without having to reverse the mouse wheel in the macOS settings, which affects other applications. Reverse Mouse Wheel is on by default on macOS, off in Windows and Linux.
